Recap of the past 8 months

It’s been a while since I posted a blog, but I’ll catch ya up. We are no longer in Honduras, El Salvador,  Nicaragua, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, or Panama, and we’re currently in Peru.

Since my last blog  was yesterday and the one before that was about Honduras. The rest of the month was super impactful, I was still shy and afraid to speak with confidence about God. During our last time there the relationships we made with the local missionary team was very hard knowing our time to serve the Lord together was coming to an end. God showed me that who you put in your life matters, from these amazing men and women of God on my team to the Catracho missions team, we grew like a whole unit. Leaving friends in Honduras made me realize to take full advantage of those who come into your life, they can be super Impactful.

After 2 months of being in the mountains of Honduras we went to a 2 week long debrief in El Salvador. It was the first time all 3 teams of N squad would be together for 2 weeks. What is Debrief? Debrief is a relaxed time  plus teachings to equip us with more knowledge of the Gospel. It was 2 weeks long in at a beach resort in El Salvador, it was a little step back to comfortability. Week one of debrief was a relaxed week about gathering your thoughts, hanging with all of your squad mates and your team that you have been in since the end of Training camp and to decompress from the first 2 months of the Race! Week two was all about teachings of God’s Love, hearing the Voice of the Holy Spirit, and confronting and overcoming Spiritual Warfare. Let me tell ya, God revealed to me strongholds I had kept as part of my identity. I wanted to be set free of these strongholds and so with that water baptism of freedom took place from strongholds. Walking in that new freedom releases so much weight off my shoulders that I had put there. Seeing myself as who God had called me to be and walking in that confidence is relaxing.

Month 3 of the World Race was in Nicaragua so all 3 teams got dropped off to their new Ministry site. Flocka Sheep (my team) made it to Light and Salt ministry—it was a lot different and a nice change of scenery from our last 2 months in Honduras.  As we settled into our new ministry we found out what our time there would look like. So we found out what options we could do and that was working with the boys of the camp, construction, and media team. So I choose to work with construction not knowing what that looked like, and it was exciting doing something new for me. So me and my TL were part of the construction team. As we found out out tasks we were ready to get started. So our first task was rebuilding and making reinforcements for a roof structure, our second task (a task we brought on ourselves) was to build a donkey roof. Since we fundraised to make our ministry host’s dream pet come and move himself into her home. So we got her a donkey!!! She was thrilled and started crying. It was a sweet moment. Finally, our last task was building their 12 year old daughter Molly a new bedroom set, along with a desk made out of wood. So there it was, our 3 tasks for our time in Nicaragua. Light and Salt ministry helped me step into more boldness for Christ! So I took an opportunity to talk to 6 – 17 year olds about the importance of what you watch and listen to (Proverbs 4:20-27), and I stepped out of my comfort zone and stepped up to the plate and when I swung, I got a hit knowing that God was with me. He guarded my thoughts and mouth of what needed to be said to these Nicaraguan boys. It was a very sweet moment and stepping in that confidence only showed myself I can do it!

So then as we were in Costa Rica and the teams have been changed for gender month. So now it’s 6 of us guys together as a team. As for the women of our teams, being divided into 2 teams in the southern part of Costa Rica. The ministry that we are with is on a farm in Los Chiles, it had been a sweet time already from our INTENSE worships nights to late night street evangelism in a nearby city. Since that night of evangelism we had gone to the capital city of Costa Rica and got to hangout with a dope ministry called House of Raw. Let me tell ya this ministry of dancing but not just dancing—KRUMPING—is super powerful. We also went out at 1 am to street evangelize and were able to get get a homie off the street a hotel for the week, who just recently lost his apartment due to having eye surgery. As we went back to meet our ministry house we started to share with him deeper understanding of how important evangelizing is. So our ministry work days got cut in half and we started evangelizing in this farm area of Costa Rica, available to be impacted and impact so many lives.

We left Costa Rica and headed to my favorite stop so far, the Dominican Republic. Coming into DR with a new called Wild and Free. The ministry we partnered with was called Mission of Hope. As soon as I touchdown in the DR and we arrived at Mission of Hope, it felt like nothing but home. What we did while ate MOH was evangelized and partnered with local pastors to spread the love of Jesus to both Dominican and Haitian communities. While there I got to see people saved, people set free, and miracles of God were at hand in many lives. By far the most amazing thing for me was hearing and seeing how the more poor Dominican and Haitian communities help out each other. For the first time on this journey I have seen people that have the same skin tone as me and it truly hit me that the love and desire to be so helpful with each other when they have so little. While at MOH I was able to meet a bunch of new friends from translators to people on staff, and new connections with other organizations in the DR. To sum up my overall experience, it was by far my favorite country I  have been to so far. God truly touched my heart with the people and organization that I possibly found a new home!

The country we headed to next was Panama and let me tell ya, it was very different then the previous countries. This month was ATL which stands for Ask the Lord. So basically we don’t partner with a host or anything, we have to pray and seek out a place to stay. So we did just that. We prayed about where God wanted us to go in Panama, and what we would be doing. So once we prayed we found a destination called David. While in David we stayed in the hood and dealt with a lot of spiritual warfare, physical fatigue, gunshots at night, and many trips to the grocery store and laundromat. Our time in Panama came to an end and then it was time to move on to Peru.

In current time, we are in Peru and it’s been a blast. We are in the middle of nowhere and daily life consists of sanding, and painting bricks and walls. Also every Thursday and Saturday we host with a kids program. I actually have to sing and learn songs in Spanish, it’s been hard but fun! I’m also know as Jamón since our host speaks only Spanish and can’t properly say my name. With that being said we are nearing the days for a debrief in Cuzco, Peru where we’ll have teachings and an adventure day to Machu Picchu .

Then we off to the motherland country aka Africa, the squad will be docked in Eswatini, Lesotho, and then South Africa. I’m literally so excited to go home. God bless you all and thank you for all your support!
